Have you ever wondered what the land was in the distance across the sea, or see what you thought was the spout of a whale? Would you like to know what are those old looking buildings out in the dunes, or just curious about the history of the area?

In 2010 Gale Force Bikes developed a bicycle tour working in conjunction with the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies (PCCS). Over the years we have updated the tour and today we continue to offer our bicycle tour through the outer dunes of Cape Cod. Learn about the natural environment and history of Cape Cod and Provincetown and get a better understanding of marine mammals and coastal conservation at PCCS.

The first tour for 2024 will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 3:00PM. Thereafter bike tours will be held each Thursday at 3:00PM each week through Thursday, September 1. Prior reservations are required (call Gale Force Bikes 508-487-4849).

The guided tour will start at 3:00PM at Gale Force Bikes (144 Bradford St Extension, Provincetown - Corner of West Vine) and will cover approximately 8 to 12 miles of fairly hilly terrain over a period of 2.5 hours. The tour will be conducted at a relaxed pace and will have several stopping points to take in the views while your tour guide provides information about the natural environment of the surrounding land and sea. Learn about the unique flora and fauna of the second oldest public lands in the nation. Hear stories of the early settlers and find out what makes this land so special.

Riders are expected to have good cycling skills in order to complete the hilly 2.5 hour tour. The pace and distance of the bicycle tour may be tailored to suit the needs of the participants. The price is $75 including a bicycle (lock and helmet included) or $65 if you bring your own bicycle. Price for PCCS members is $65 (including bike) and $55 (excluding bike). Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before departure (arrive at 2:30PM for a 3:00PM departure) to allow enough time to complete paperwork and select helmets and bicycles.

Each bicycle tour is limited to 12 participants. Prior reservations are required. To make a reservation for the bike tour, contact Gale Force Bikes (508-487-4849). Reservations require a deposit paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover). Deposit refunds will be made provided cancellation is made at least 48 hours before the scheduled tour date. Walk-in tour participants without reservations will be accommodated on a space-available basis.
